The story behind our assessments.
Dr. Gervais, CEO of Pinnacle Performance, strongly believes in the value of learning from the best performers in life. This led him to attend graduate school to learn from one of the pioneers of sport psychology, Dr. Bruce Ogilvie. Dr. Ogilvie had such an influence on the field of Sport Psychology, that he is often referred to as “the Father of Applied Sport Psychology.”
According to Dr. Gervais, “It was an honor to learn from a man that most only have the chance to read about in introductory sport psychology textbooks. He had a genuine presence about him that was full. He was full of life. He was a mentor to many, and I am blessed to have also learned from him.”
His wealth of experience and rich understanding of elite performance created the impetus for Dr. Ogilve to create the two assessments known as the Competitive Styles Profile (CSP) and the Learning Styles Profile (LSP) (see history of the development here). Both assessments assemble his vision of the characteristics that are necessary for performing under pressure.
In the summer of 2003 Dr. Ogilvie died in his home near San Jose and is survived by the love of his life Diane Ogilvie and his two children. In the spring of 2005 Dr. Gervais and Diane Ogilvie sat down to discuss how to continue the legacy that her husband spent his life developing (see video). To date, we at Pinnacle Performance are extremely honored to further the work of Dr. Bruce Ogilvie.
We, and the performers we work with, have found great value in using these assessments. We hope that you too will gain great insight toward your development of being a complete performer.
